Questions about crafts:
Why do you enjoy crafts so much?
I enjoy making something creative of my own and seeing how it pleases other people.
Who do you do crafts with and for what occasions?
I often make things alone or with my family. The main reasons I do crafts are birthdays and other celebrations. Our family tends to only give "handmade" gifts at Christmas.
How do you come up with the ideas?
I get my ideas from craft books, magazines or daily life.
What are your favourite materials and why?
I prefer to use readily available materials like paper, natural materials, glue and stickers.
Tell us what your favourite thing is to make and why you like it so much.
My current favourite craft idea is a concertina measuring chart - a so called "leporello" - for children. You can hang it on the wall and keep track of the child's growth. You can also add a photo and mark the height of the child on important dates such as birthdays of the first day at school.
And if you move house you can simply take the chart off the wall, fold it up and hang it in the new room. At the end of the day you have a kind of memory album with photos.
First I take a few A4 pieces of coloured craft paper that I think stick together with tape. You can then fold the chart up at those corners. Then I draw the measurements down the right hand side of the chart with a felt tip pen.
I then decorate the left hand side with little cut out paper or card flowers and shapes and make some frames that the photos of the child can be stuck into. Finally, I make two holes at the top and tie a piece of string through them. Then to make it more stable, I glue a thin length of wood to the back.
I then also put a button on the front of the folded up chart to keep the finished reminiscence package neat and tidy.
